West Bend 72215 Electric Extra-Deep Oblong 12-by-15-Inch Nonstick Skillet

Xtra Large, Xtra Deep electric fry pan!
If you know anything about non stick electric fry pans, you know they usually have two things in common, 1. they only heat where the heating coil is in the bottom, resulting in uneven heating, then that area wears out, creating a permanent sticky ring in the bottom of the fryer that peels, bubbles, and burns everything. 2. they have notoriously LOW sides making their usefulness very limited. This West Bend 72215 Electric nonstick skillet addresses those very issues. First of all, you'll get even heating and the non stick is very durable. Second, the pan is OBLONG and has EXTRA DEEP sides! The shape and size makes it very much more versatile than any other electric fry pan you may have tried. And at under fifty dollars, it is a steal! I like to use a pan like this to avoid heating up the kitchen (OR having to clean the stove!) in the Summer, and at the Cabin. Grab one, you won't be disappointed!

Lousy Skillet
This skillet has some major shortcomings. It has VERY thin sidewalls which results in a significant uneven distribution of heat. One has to consistently move food to get it to cook evenly. The thin sidewalls also do not hold the heat. While cooking, the skillet cycles through getting extremely hot then shuts off and stops cooking. It seems unable to even remotely hold a constant temperature. I use a skillet for a lot of my cooking but this one is literally unusable.

Flaky...doesn't keep its nonstick coating on
love using electric skillets but found out this one doesn't keep its nonstick coating on...very disappointing...seeing that I do not want to be eating it in my food...I thought maybe plastic utensils were gouging it & turned to just silicone spatulas...but it didn't matter...more&more coating is coming off no matter what I do...Also like the other review said it does heat up to really hot & then it shuts off...Ive had it for 6 months now & use it once or twice a week...I like the size & the depth of the pan..wish it wasn't so flaky..
